Hermann Kosel was born in 1896. His father, Hermann Clemens Kosel was a renaissance man and worked as an author, inventor, photographer and biographer. He was a distinguished, prominent portrait photographer among the affluent in Vienna, and because of his love and the connections to the art scene, Hermann Clemens Kosel pre-arranged the establishment of his sons career as an artist.
