The Artwork for the original colour lithographic poster was created for the Victorian Railways in the 1930's. The design features a black and white photographic image superimposed over a coloured mountain landscape. Victorian Railways certainly got good value from this piece, I remember this particular poster was still being displayed on Melbourne's Red Rattlers in the early 1960's.
Marysville is a beautiful a small town, 34 kilometres north-east of Healesville and 41 kilometres south of Alexandra, in the Shire of Murrindindi in Victoria, Australia. The message was the Tallest Trees in the British Empire , the old growth Beech forests in the Upper Taggerty catchment.
On 7 February 2009 Marysville was devastated by the Black Saturday bushfire . The official death toll was 45 and 90% of the town's buildings were destroyed.
